★ Thursday nov 26 • L-Festival Opening Talk: Where are we in the night? (online) EN

🌙 Let’s have a chat on lesbian-bi-trans* and feminist nightlife-spaces!

Tune in Thursday, November 26, at 7.30 pm for an intimate conversation with different actors from the nightlife-scene. Both collectives & venues, artists and representatives of the public will come together to discuss – where we are in the night –

🌃 To open the L-Festival 2020, actors of the lesbian-bi-trans* and feminist nightlife scene reunite to share their goals, challenges & dreams.

🔭 Where did you first meet other LBT* people? For many queers, the LBT* community is discovered through parties, in bars or queer shows. What spaces do exist? And why do we need LBT* nightlife-venues? What are the difficulties in creating and sustaining these places? And how do they reflect divisions and solidarity in the community?

💬 The conversation is in ENGLISH & you are welcome to ask questions in the comment section of the live.

👀 And who participates ? The different panelists will soon be revealed to you !

★ Thursday dec 3 • 19:00 “Queer wxmen & online dating vandaag” (online) NL

Come and join us this thursday to talk about online dating, relationships and love with Troebel!

💌 Tinder, Grindr, Hinge, Match, Happn: online dating apps are now indispensable for our social life. But how did they influence our dating standards? What is a good date? What do we expect from each other now? How did digitalization influence our love life and relationships overall? In this workshop, we’ll talk about the modern, digital form of dating, relationships and love.

There are no right or wrong answers here. We’ll focus mainly on your stories and experiences that tell us what it means to be human today.

🔋 This event takes place online via zoom. The workshop is free but you need to registrate at: info@troebel.be

Timing: Thursday 3th December, from 7 pm – 9 pm.

___________

We are Julia Alegre and Maïté de Haan, two young philosophers with a passion for philosophy and the world. Together we founded the philosophical non-profit organization Troebel. With this new platform we want to create clarity in a troubled world. For us, dialogue, connection and imagination are central. By stimulating dialogues, we want to play a connecting role and, together with others, imagine a future in which we live together, not despite, but thanks to our differences.

★ (coming soon) • Workshop “My Beautiful Queer Pussy” (FR)

🩺 Self-help workshops are opportunities to share knowledge and auto-observing our genital organs (vulva, vagina, cervix,…).

Because our bodies in general, and our pussies in particular, are subjects of systemic oppressions and injunctions of all kinds. Because when we re-appropriate them, when we share our interrogations and our knowledge together, it’s a way of standing together as a group, with benevolence and without judgement. Because, as queer people, we have specific experiences, stories or questions, it’s an opportunity to approach the subject through our eyes.

This workshop is open to all people who identify as queer AND who have/have had vulva, vagina, clitoris, uterus, regardless of their gender, age or religion.

It will last 4 hours, with a break in between:

– 1st part: discussion, sharing of our experiences and knowledge. Topics will be chosen by the attendees, according to their needs and desires of the moment. Leaflets, pictures and 3D anatomical representations will be available.

– 2nd part: self-observation of our genitals with the help of mirrors and specula for those who wish to do so. The individual privacy will be respected by an appropriate environment: screen, stretched fabric, full skirt, etc.

These workshops are moments of self-help, a way of taking care of oneself. The idea is to create a space for sharing that allows everyone to feel free, safe, confident and empowered.

At the end of the workshop, a moment will be dedicated again to an exchange on our sensations, our (re)discoveries and our questioning.

Specula and lub are provided, just bring a mirror and a flashlight, a towel to make yourself comfortable.

The workshop is proposed by Giss, nurse and sophrologist, white lesbian cisgender queer woman.

The language is French, but occasional translations into English are possible if needed.

€ Open participation (5€ are recommended)

★ (coming soon) • Clit & Plak: collage workshop (NL)

🖍️ This workshop is part of a research project on sexuality and intimacy of 50+ lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer women at UGent (https://research.flw.ugent.be/nl/projects/later-life-intimacy-womens-unruly-practices-spaces-and-representations). Anyone can indicate whether or not they agree to have their data to be used for the research.

In this workshop the stereotypes about queer 50+ women are reviewed by making erotic collages/zines. A safe(r) space in which women* work together armed with a pen, scissors and glue sticks to challenge heteronormative ideas about female sexuality.

Unleash your creativity: the sky is the limit! Drawing a queer kamasutra, writing pieces of erotic literature, colouring vaginas, anything is possible!  Inspiration can be found in adult colouring books, magazines, erotic books and so on.

★ (coming soon) • Vernissage Zaya “I AM US” + L-Quizz @ Crazy Circle

🎨 Zolzaya Sodnomdarjaa (Zaya) presents a delicate and strong exhibition, entitled “I AM US”. Art brings Zaya energy and serenity, it is also a way of seeing the world differently. Living organisms and the representation of the LGBTQI* communities are Zaya’s passions.

In this series, Zaya was inspired by female and voluptuous, but deliberately omits head and genitals,  to show that female forms are not exclusive to the female gender.

★ (coming soon) • Empowering Self-defense for Queer Migrant Women (EN)

🥊 Introduction to mental, verbal and physical techniques for self defense and empowerment of LBTQI* women and non-binary persons

Every person has the right to learn how to defend themselves. Systems of violence are complex, so self-defense requires more than just physical techniques.

Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD) is a holistic approach to personal safety which teaches tools to combat the whole spectrum of violence, from verbal harassment to physical violence. ESD is an evidenced-based primary violence prevention system.

“ Dear sisters let’s get together and experience how to interrupt violence by listening to our intuition, assessing our options, asserting boundaries, using de-escalation strategies using ESD as an evidence-based primary violence prevention system..

Empowerment Self-Defense gives us the power to choose how to respond to violence, without judgement or victim blaming. It empowers us to be in command of our minds, body and spirit. It teaches us that we are allowed to live our lives boldly and freely without fear.

I will be waiting for you as you are with your fears and wounds, with your protection mechanisms, failures and victories.

Together we will create a safe space where we can share our experiences and learn from each other and from the best techniques that are already there to be used.”

⚠️ This workshop is organized in chosen non-mixity and reserved to LBTQI* women/NB that have a migrational background (priority to 1st generation migrants) or who are going through an asylum procedure.

★ (coming soon) • Soirée littéraire (FR)

📖 Au programme :

  • Conférence «The rather nebulous bounds of good taste, queering and eroticizing the canon with fanfiction » par Iris Lafon (45min)
  • Lecture Dear Sister Love….” – Correspondances LesBiennes par le collectif “Where we belong” (1h)

📚 «The rather nebulous bounds of good taste, queering and eroticizing the canon with fanfiction » par Iris Lafon

📚Dear Sister Love….” – Correspondances LesBiennes par le collectif  “Where we belong”

🎬 “Les nouvelles Guérillères” by Elisa Vanderkerckhove

Through the stories of collectives and feminist women from Brussels, this 52-minute long documentary tries to shed light on the work of these activists who want to take back that space where they feel like they don’t belong anymore, where they do not feel safe anymore.
