Wrongly forgotten women, do the names Clara Schumann, Erika Mann, Marie Curie, Harriet Tubman, Clarice Lispector, Ada Lovelace or Kaplana Chawla mean anything to you? All of them are women who did work for which men took the credit, women who explored the world but remained in Stanley’s shadow, or women who were as gifted artists as their male colleagues but did not receive the same attention at the time. And above all: they are women who managed to escape the conventions of their time, made the most of life and went to extremes to make their dreams come true. During the Dead Ladies Shows they get the stage they deserve.

After two successful editions, writer Gaea Schoeters and literature house Passa Porta continue with the Dead Ladies Show, a sparkling ‘café chantant’ about three remarkable women who were misunderstood in life and deserve lasting admiration. This edition is extra queer! For the PrideFestival, actress Joke Devynck, writer Fleur Pierets and publisher Annette Portegies happily delve into the life and work of Doeschka Meijsing, Camille Claudel and Nathalie Clifford Barney.

The three lecture-performances are followed by a mini-concert, in which a singer, accompanied by pianist Lies Colman, pays homage to a grande dame of yesteryear.
